Abandoned quail nest?

I have a quail nest in my backyard. Started with 16 eggs. The father is nesting them. The other day i found that there were only 14 eggs. One egg broken open and inside emptied, and another broken but insides intact but both left at nest. Today i found the nest in disarray, feathers around, and so on. There are only 8 eggs now, no sign of the father, and the eggs are cold. Only found one egg broken and the inside emptied. All others have disappeared. What would have done this? A roadrunner? As i have 2 thatr come in yard regurlarly. And should i remove the others to incubate? I have done quite a bit of research on the quail and other birds. I have outdoor feeders, nests all over, babies, and many many different birds, chipmink, etc.. I live on an acre in the Arizona desert. What should i do?

I was wondering why we care about endagered animals. Is it only the ones that are endangered by human actions or all of them? My best advice to you is to keep it under a heat lamp with some blankets or just try to keep it as warm as possible without over heating it. I have 4 domestic quails in a large chicken coop, 3 hens and a cock. They have the right environment and the right diet. I want them to start laying and hatching their eggs but they're not. My two quails hatched two little chicks yesterday in my outdoor aviary. I have given them seeds, dried egg yoke and a few worms, they have shelter, but is there anything else? Yes I do believe that they screwed up with the suspension. My quails have laid an egg and i dont know what to do any theories ?

He was sick about 2 weeks ago because I was using tap water, I quickly went out and bought a water conditioner, but now he's having similar non-responsive symptoms; he is lying on the bottom of the tank, rarely being active and only going up for air, he is not eating, just spitting the pellets out, and this is what worries me most...he's very pale. He's usually a dark purple and light pink body but now hes almost orange and the purple is looking translucent. I did a water change today, and i'm going to fast him tomorrow and maybe the next day to make sure it's not constipation or swim bladder. (he's not swimming sideways yet..) I don't have a heater because our house is quite warm, but i've been doing water cycling today (taking out 2 cups of the water and replacing it with new hot conditioned water to raise the temperature a bit) The warm water seemed to help his activity but it does not explain the paleness and the lack of eating.. Can anyone throw perspective to this? (also his gills seem slightly swollen from the last ammonia shock...I really am trying to take good care of this fish.. Need Help With A Story I Am Writing!!!?

The story I'm writing opens with a young boy watching a news report about a serial killer who has committed another crime, once again and police still have no leads to the last murder. The 15 year old boy asks him mom if he is going to come after them. She replies with a simple no. Little do they know, the killer has been hiding evidence around their house. The only problem is I can't start the story without the opening scene of the news report. How exactly do I do that? What things should I include to make it sound some-what chilling and disturbing. My husband and i just noticed our daughters king quails have laid 4 eggs, they arent sitting on them and were laid in different parts of the aviary. Our cats got quail after quail by reaching through the poultry netting, hooking them, and pulling them through the hexagonal openings. We couldn't figure out the mystery of the vanishing quails in the aviary until my sister sat and watched.

During the year, I progressed into more of a girl.(Within 3 months) Meaning--not to be offensive-- I slimmed out and got 4 inches taller.I was really short, by the end of that I was 5' and 1 half inches. After that was over... I caught him staring at me. That went on for the rest of the school year. While we were at a week long camp(in May), he was in my group, one thing on my mind- oh joy... I told this kid who I joke around with a lot that I, jokingly, hated him, the guy who I'm asking the question about(who I'll nickname 'boy') was behind me talking to a guy. Boy then said, 'you don't hate me, right?'. Confused I said "no.. you're alright." that was odd. On the last day of school, Boy walked up to me blushing and was going to say something, but then walked away.(I know it's long, bare with me!) He has been in 4 of my classes(not including 6th grade) during the course of middle school, and has been my project partner once, and we barely talked to each other during that time, or during middle school at all. Boy still stared and sometimes blushed or smiled. I talked to my very good best friend, who is a gamer and guy, and he said he has only the slightest clue of a yes. My very few female friends say, maybe. I really do not like this guy! He is rude and keeps girlfriends for like 2 months or less. Boy also harshly dumps them 75% of the time. I wouldn't house them in the same aviary but if you are set on it- I would introduce them very slowly. Perhaps putting the budgies in a cage around the quails for a couple of weeks. They will be able to see and hear one another but will be safe in the cage. Be cautious. While the budgies may be a mellow bunch, if they are distraught about sharing a cage- things could go very wrong. Good luck to you! :)

About these quails...?

So I have a flowerpot. And it has a plant. A couple of hours ago, I discovered that there was a nest in there with a whole bunch of quail chicks. That's fine and all but I'm worried about their safety. The pot is really tall and the walls are quite high, so its almost impossible for them to get out and impossible for them to get back in. I'm also worried that they might not be able to get water and that they'll die of dehydration. A the moment, I'm leaving them alone, and probably will leave them alone because I don't want to get into any legal problems but.... should I do something? What type of bird is this?

I was on a walk and I saw a bird, I was wondering if anyone could identify it for me please? :) It was quite a plump bird, short. It's feathers were a mixture of overlapping creams, blacks, browns and reddy-browns. The head was white with a black strip and a red ring around the eye. The beak was quite short and the tail feathers were fairly long and skimmed the floor. I think I saw two as one time I noticed it had thorn like spikes on the back of its legs, and then it didn't. I saw it by Gower. We were on the common in a field of spiky dark green bushes.It was on a mountain/hill next to the sea. Why does my dog have bad breath...?

...when she is on a grain-free diet? Any ideas why????? She is allergic to everything!!! We used to feed her a rotation diet of Wellness Core, Acana, TOTW, Orijen and Natural Balance (according to how much money we had that month). I've tried Prey Model for several months as well (she only does well on red meat, poultry gives her poops cept for quail). We usually keep her on a food for about 4 months at a time to see if anything improves. She has been to the vet for a full check up. Teeth are great. Stool sample was fine. Vet suggested we check her diet. I just laughed. He said to try putting her on something that has high quality grains in it because her was worried she was having problems with potatoes as the carb. I didn't want to do that because grains are bad, right? She had a skin test and is highly allergic to grass. I live in rural NC. There is a LOT of unavoidable grass here. We got a second opinion from a pet nutritionist because we know how clueless vets can be about pet diets. She was quite shocked that my dogs breath was so bad when we brought her in. She said the same thing the vet told me. When we adopted our dog she had a very bad ear infection and it wouldn't go away (even with antibiotics). The grain-free was supposed to help with this but she maintains an ear infection for 6 months out of a year (yes we clean them daily). We put her on Canidae ALS three nights ago and the bad breath is gone. She poops twice a day now (only once previously). Her ear is getting very bad again. I'm not sure what to do. We keep trading one problem for another. The breath is SOOOO bad that it can't continue. Likewise with the ear infections. I grew up in a house with 8 dogs and have never had any issues to match this one. My vet is out of ideas. Our nutritionist is stumped too. Our girl is a Jack Russell if that makes a difference. Anybody out there have any "useful" ideas?

How do i get rid of these mice?!?

So, about 3 weeks ago i was sitting on the floor in my room eating. Several times i noticed something in the corner of my eye black, moving fast. It came out and I realized it was a mouse. i freaked! did not catch it that night. The following day, I tore my room apart cleaning EVERYTHING and made it smell good with Murphy's oil soap. I found mouse droppings in a spot the mouse ran last night (under a dresser drawer) and I washed my sheets with extra fabric softeners. I found no mouse holes anywhere. I set 2 traps in my room, 3 in the kitchen, and 3 in the garage. I caught a total of 5 -_-. The other 3 traps are still laid out, I haven't seen or caught anymore since, and I've been spraying peppermint oil all over the house and my room. I never eat in my room any more and vaccuum/clean it once a week. There's not a crumb or spec of dirt anywhere in my room; is it safe to say the mice are gone, if not..what can anyone recommend?

My quail just hatched and one cannot walk, his feet are still curled under...What to do?

I am raising some quail and it has been about 2 days since they hatched. All but one are doing just fine. This one quail's feet are still curled under-like it just came out of the egg-and so it can not get to its feet. When I put it on its feet for it, he kicks and tries to start walking but falls over onto his back. The quail is very strong, at least as strong as the others, but his feet just wont cooperate. Why did my quail grow the way it did?

For my biology class we did an experiment in which we had to keep a pet quail for a month and measure it and study how it grew.
